Andy Hindley
CEO - Yorkshire 2019 Ltd
"Josh was a pleasure to work with and provided first class support and services during the 2019 Road Cycling World Championships.
As a secondee to the team, Josh integrated seamlessly. His commitment to the role, expert knowledge and professionalism boosted overall competency, freeing up valuable resource to focus on non-sporting activities without needing to constantly monitor Josh’s progress and delivery.

Reporting and delivery milestones were all met on or ahead of schedule with some excellent decision making along the way, and all delivered with a calm yet cheery demeanour. I wouldn’t hesitate to engage Josh again, should that opportunity present itself."
Bob Brayshaw
Operations Director - Tour de Yorkshire
"As Head of Routes for the 2019 UCI Road World Championships and Operations Director for the Tour de Yorkshire, I actively sought out Josh for the role of Route Manager. We worked closely for over a year to deliver the competition route safety and security on the World Championships and the Tour de Yorkshire project, during which time Josh took the lions share of practical application, developed innovative solutions for mapping, signage and back of house services to ensure logistics were 100% spot on.
During both events we were challenged with extreme weather, but the planning Josh had implemented made dynamic decisions and alterations to courses quick and easy. Thanks Josh, it has been an absolute pleasure and would not hesitate to recommend you or work with you again (if you learn how to make a proper Yorkshire brew!)"
Kevin Benjamin
Road World Championships General Manager - UCI
"As the UCI Road World Championships General Manager, I worked directly (and through the UCI Sport Manager) with Josh in the lead up and during the event.
Pre-event, Josh was always well prepared and thorough with his planning, along with reacting positively and solution oriented to any additional requests or changes that the UCI made.
During the event, Josh was our main point of contact out on the road to making sure that everything was in place and ready for a safe event. This is no small feat, considering that more than once we had to put in place delays or changes due to extreme weather protocol. Even in the toughest conditions, Josh remained calm and proactive, which was a key asset to making sure the event was a success.
For the reasons above, I personally chose Josh to present at the 2020 UCI RWC Knowledge Transfer Seminar to give his learnings and insights to future RWC Organisers."
Paul Loftus MBE
President of the Fred Whitton Challenge
"It was our good fortune that in early 2020 we secured the services of Josh to help us deliver the The Fred Whitton Challenge in the future years to come.

We had worked with Josh during our time with Human Race and was impressed with his keenness and ability to provide things on time with no prompting. We all watched keenly when Josh went to Welcome to Yorkshire to deliver The Road Cycling World Championships and saw him deal professionally with all the last minute changes that were needed due to the poor weather conditions.

Needles to say when we had the offer of his services on our event, we jumped at the chance to bring him on board, and this was unanimously endorsed by all our 13 people on the steering group. Josh has now been involved with our team for four years, three years on the organising side, and one year off to ride the event, we now think we have no one better to take the event forward for us in the years to come."

Organisation Epreuves, Direction du Cyclisme - Amaury Sport Organisation
"A legacy of the 2014 Tour de France Grand Départ in Yorkshire, the Tour de Yorkshire has hosted some of the world's best cycling teams and always draws an impressive crowd.

Josh has been a great resource for the organisation of the both the men’s and women’s Tour de Yorkshire races during the 2018 and 2019 editions. Josh was the perfect liaison between ASO, host towns, highways, police, local authorities and was our main point of contact in Yorkshire to guarantee the safe delivery of the race."
Carl Skelton
Highways Group Manager - East Riding of Yorkshire Council
"Josh was contracted by me between November 2019 and May 2021 in order to manage the organisation and implementation of the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race within the East Riding. This necessitated bringing together various stakeholders and operational functions to ensure the safe and effective start venue and passage of the race within the East Riding highway network. I had also previously worked with Josh for a period of approximately 2 years during his time with Welcome to Yorkshire managing the race route.
During this period I've found Josh to be professional, efficient, honest and reliable with an in depth knowledge of cycle racing events and the planning, safety, risk assessment and organisational considerations that are required. Josh was also involved in security and wider considerations these were developed during planning stages.
Josh was able to quickly build the necessary relationships with a wide range of staff at all levels and bring together a delivery team across various areas of the council to ensure delivery dates were maintained.
Unfortunately the actual race due in early May 2020 was cancelled due to lockdown restrictions. Josh was able to close down the councils preparations and turn his attentions to other longer term highway events (road rally). Josh also demonstrated significant flexibility as he was trained and transferred to a role managing one of the council's Covid 19 Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) facilities undertaking on-site tests for front-line staff to help support the councils response to the pandemic.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Josh for a similar sporting project management role."
Kevin Nash
RideLondon Event Director - London Marathon Events
“We appointed Josh as a Senior Venue Production Manager for the RideLondon Classique UCI WWT bicycle races in 2022 to ensure we had the expertise and focus that top level races require. Josh came with a wealth of experience and was immediately able to take full ownership and accountability for a board area of operational and stakeholder work to manage the start and finish venues for the 3-day race.
Attention to detail and proactive thinking are critical to the safe and successful delivery of events and Josh was fully able to plan, adapt and deliver to the standards required by LME. We are very happy to allow Josh the freedom to manage a range of suppliers and contractors to cover all aspects of production and sport functions. Josh is also highly capable in developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships which is vital with events that have a high level of potential impact in the towns and cities that host these events. Having a high level of competence in dealing with LME’s stakeholders meant that positive partnerships were underlying the event and great outcomes were always achieved even when the inevitable problems arise.
Over the past 3 editions of the race that Josh has been involved with we are delighted to have had the events planned and delivered to the highest standards with stakeholders praising the wider organisation through their interface with Josh. Josh’s full awareness of safety considerations and risk management fully support his expert work and decision making abilities. Understanding problems and identifying solutions come naturally to Josh through a calm and proficient attitude.
If you are looking for the very best in event management practice then I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending that Josh forms part of your top team to ensure a safe and successful event. There will be no regrets.”

I have had the pleasure of working with Josh at numerous events for different clients over the past 10 years. Whatever the role Josh is undertaking he brings a very welcome naturally calm and confident approach to the table. He has a superb knowledge of event management from planning through to the delivery phases at operational and tactical levels. From being a Site Manager, Senior Production Manager or Sports and Competition Manager, give Josh a title and role within your mass participation or competition event, he will own it to the max and get the best results all round.

Ironically I have only physically been in one event control room at the same time as Josh. On the 2023 Cycling World Championships (Road Time trials) his leadership and joined up approach helped navigate through some complex challenges to ensure the event could proceed as intended. Forming strong working bonds both within internal teams and with wider external stakeholders, this comes easily to Josh and puts him in a good position to deal with potential conflict and problem solving.
For the times when Josh has been leading on the ground I have had the confidence from an event control perspective that a task is not only being managed, it is being done to the highest professional standard that ensures a safe event set up with positive outcomes all round. The strong communication and alignment meant that we would communicate regularly to ensure we were all on the same page working to a single version of the truth. No challenge was too big that with sensible discussions they could be easily overcome.

Not only this, Josh is genuinely a really decent guy to work with and I look forward to working on future projects together! I would absolutely recommend Josh to anyone in the events industry as someone that is dynamic and able to support events in a wide variety of roles. He will help drive teams to deliver a great result for any client.
